Content	Missing Missing entirely or content completely unrelated.	Unsatisfactory The text does not include any advice at all. The text refers to a problem that cannot be solved within the context of the situation.	Satisfactory The text includes several pieces of advice and implies in general the reasons that the advice should be followed. The advice is reasonable.	Distinguished The text includes specific pieces of advice and includes reasons that the advice should be followed for each piece of advice. The advice can be followed within the context of the letter/response, and the writer offers a suggestion on how to follow through with the advice.
Clarity	Missing Unclear answers, or missing entirely.	Unsatisfactory Basic answer. No valid information from the class was used to support advice for individual. The problem is unclear or too broad.	Satisfactory Vague answer or question. Only one fact is used from class and not enough advice given from individual. There is not clear information requested from the victim.	Distinguished Clearly identifies the conflict or problem in the call or situation. Counselor/friend clearly articulates the advice and details in an answer. Provides multiple facts learned in class to support advice for peer/friend.
Grammar/Punctuation/Mechanics	Missing Problems with grammar and punctuation make the article difficult to understand.	Unsatisfactory More than 10 grammar, punctuation, or mechanical errors including but not limited to end punctuation, word choice, and agreement errors.	Satisfactory The articles contain no more than 9 grammatical errors.	Distinguished No more than 3 grammatical errors are present in the text.
Requirment	Missing Two or fewer sentences per paragraph. One or more element is missing entirely.	Unsatisfactory Less than 4 sentences per response or advise given.	Satisfactory 5 or more sentences were used to answer or give advise.	Distinguished Writing was well articulated and writer exceeded minimum requirement in a thoughtful and meaningful way to clarify ideas or add additional details important to understanding the content of the column.
