Brief Outline of Research Paper including Topic, Thesis, and research methodology

Students will be able to demonstrate the very basics of essay writing.

o Choose a “Developmental Topic of Personal Interest” for individual research. Be prepared to submit a 5- to 6-page paper in Week Four. o Choose any topic related to course content. Appropriate topics include: Issues of autonomy, gender roles, sexuality, self-concept, relationships, marriage, parenthood, grandparenthood, divorce, stepfamilies, widowhood, death, bereavement, and other related subjects. For other ideas, refer to the text Table of Contents. o In your paper, describe the problem, how it affects those involved, ways of preventing such problems, and approaches and resources for resolving or improving the problem. At least five sources of information are required, documented in APA style in-text citations and reference page

Use the APA 5th Ed formatting guidelines for annotated bibliographies. Choose empirical research articles from major journals in your area of interest-topics related to your graduate studies. These must be chosen from recent empirical research studies, 2002 or later. Summaries and annotations are 10-point assignments.

The culmination of the English Composition class is a research paper of not less than 10 pages, using the MLA format, double spaced, Times Roman font at 12 pts. including a cover page, thesis/outline page and work cited page using with not less than 5 independent resources.
