Topic #2

I have always felt like experience teaches us the most about what it is we are wanting to learn.  I volunteered at a very well known shelter in Murfreesboro, TN for a few months and this paper is a reflection of why we need ORCO majors, especially those interested in non-profit organizations.  I first started out wanting to work for a non-profit but later changed my mind.

I have taken the name of the organization out for consideration purposes.

I have also attached a file that has a lot of questions we got to ask all the prestigious business women of Murfreesboro at the first luncheon at the Foundation House for our Women in Leadership Class.

Intro to ORCO

The Society is an international organization that was founded by Jean Henri Dunant. It is an organization that is respected by millions of people for its services to mankind. Its main aim is to care for all sufferers whether in war or peace.
There are seven basic principles that the organization follows. They are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace among all people.
Impartiality is used because it makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavors to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress.
In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of every one, neutrality was made a principle for the Organization. It will not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.
It is independent so they may be able to act in agreement with the principles that have already been established.
The fifth principle is Voluntary Service. They are a voluntary relief association not motivated by any specific type of gain other than that of simply helping others. They are strongly based on unity.
Unity is the sixth principle that allows there to only be one limb of this organization per country. The organization must be open to all types of people and should help with all kinds of charitable work throughout the country.
The International Organization, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide which is the reason for the last principle; Universality. This association has accomplished so much in the many years that they have been an organization that it’s almost impossible to find something to change. They have everything perfected down to an art within the corporation. As the leader in the nonprofit industry, this organization attracts a talented, motivated, and friendly workforce. Experts in the fields of humanitarian aid, disaster response, blood banking, and biomedical research & development can be found working here.
After researching and digging to find some kind of flaw in the system, I managed to come to the conclusion that there was not really anything that needed to be changed. This organization is obviously the best of its kind and deserves all the credit it already receives and then a little extra.
