My Name

Choosing a name for a child can be an easy or stressful task for parents. When parents are choosing a name for their child they usually choose it for different reasons. They may pick a name to use such as a close relatives name, or carry on a family name such as a maiden name, or they may pick a new name that they like that might possibly be a name that is just popular at the time.
My name is Amber Ceress Ramsey, and it was chosen for me for many reasons. My first names origin is Arabic. The definition of my name in scientific terms is a type of hard and translucent yellow orange or brownish yellow fossil resin that is used for making jewelry. In Hindu, my first name means sky. According to a poll of the most popular names of the 1980’s my name, Amber, ranks number thirteen out of 1000 names. My first name was most likely chosen due to this. Another reason my parents may have picked my name is because Amber is a color and my dad is an art major. I am glad my parents picked the name Amber for me because I think it suits me. My mom explained that her other choice of a name other than Amber was the name Jane after her grand-mother. However, I personally like Amber better.  My Middle name, Ceress, is a family name that has been passed down for three generations. It is taken after my mom, my grandmother, and my great-grandmother.

My middle name makes me feel proud because I have never heard of anyone else having it, and it is part of my family. I researched my middle name online and I found out that it could be a type of ocean-related acronym that means clouds and the earth’s radiant energy system. Although I don’t think my parents chose my middle name for this reason, it was because of a family tradition. My last name, Ramsey, is from an Old English origin and also Scottish-American. According to an ancestry website my last names meaning is from a Northern Island known as Rams Island. I also found out that my last name could have also originated from a place in Huntingdonshire, England. This could possibly be where the Ramsey family started and then afterward became settled in Scotland.
My name, Amber Ceress Ramsey, was chosen for me for different reasons, and I am proud of it because my parents gave it to me. My first name is a color, my middle name has been passed down three generations, and my last name is Old English passed down from my ancestors. I like my first name because I think it suits me.
