My role is to foster in my pupils a confidence in their abilities and to nurture their natural curiosity of the world around them.
In so doing, my classroom must be one where we value honesty and risk-taking. It must be a place that students relish coming to each day; learning must be challenging and interesting. Quality learning must reflect a programme which balances a quest for academic knowledge along with creativity and physical activity/ skills.
Our classroom environment and tone must depict our enthusiasm for learning. It must also reflect our respect of self-discipline and our appreciation of each other as individuals.
I believe that students feel most secure and happiest in an environment which provides them with routines and boundaries. The direct, honest approach is always the best one, though not necessarily the easiest, in meaningful communication with pupils, parents and colleagues.
