Foothill Honors Program                                                                   

    I was very excited to enter the honors program at Foothill and have the opportunity to take an honors English course. Throughout the quarter I had to complete 3 major essays, two of which were research papers, as well as a series of in-class essay exams. The course also included an additional online component where I had to maintain a blog and participate in a group blog discussion--if you visit my links page you can view it there.

    Overall, having completed the course, my interest in English has grown dramatically. I feel that I have improved my writing skills and learned techniques that allow me to write better than I have in the past. A typical issue for me was to write personally, but after writing and revising two major essays where my personal story counted for half of the paper, I became much more comfortable with retelling stories from my own life. In fact, the skills I developed in this area make it much easier for me to even create this ePortfolio now. Of course the benefit of that learning is much greater as well, it is easier for me to write resumes and properly relate events in my own life to make a stronger argument for why I should be hired.

    In the subsections that follow this, I will try to explain each of my assignments and how I feel that I have grown. If you wish to take the time, you can look through my work and make a judgment for yourself as I really do appreciate comments and criticism--no sarcasm intended.
