Illustration	Poor Illustration is not original or has not been changed enough to make it original. Not enough research done.	Fair Illustration is original but could be researched and completed more professionally.	Good Illustration is original and well rendered. Evident student researched topic.
Type	Poor Type is predictable and doesn't give enough information regarding the topic. Sizes are not varied and styles are not varied. Not enough research on type styles was done.	Fair Type could be more creatively used, sizes could be more varied and sizes could be used to improve interest. Information is adequate.Could have researched more.	Good Type is used creatively, sizes complement the overall design, styles complement the overall design and information is appropriate and proves student did research on topic.
Color	Poor Color is used but predictable. Filters, screens, and other means to provide visual interest could have been used. Not much tie in with genre.	Fair Color is adequately used but not creatively used. Predictable application and looks like so many others. Generic color applicaton to genre.	Good Color is original and creatively used. Color scheme matches genre of music and it's evident much thought went into tying the two together.
Artist Description	Poor Name of artist is not original, name of the title song is not original, genre description does not tell the type of music and does not set the mood for the CD.	Fair Name of artist is original as well as the title song but not enough explanation of the genre and the mood is left to guess.	Good Name of artist is original, name of the title song is original, genre description tells the type of music and sets the mood for the CD.
Design Description	Poor Description does not state how your design works, taking the audience into account, or pointing out some of the meanings they are likely to read in the design.	Fair Description states how the design works but could have spent more time on the audience perspective. More meanings could have been described.	Good Description clearly states how your design works, taking the audience into account, pointing out some of the meanings they are likely to read in the design.
