Argumentative Writing 
This lesson will help students map out their argument essay after they have identified a topic. Students will learn the three basic components of constructing an argument: stating a claim, listing reasons, and providing evidence.

Thesis statement does not answer the questions completely and clearly. Conclusion restates main point but lacks explanation of it’s significance.

Thesis statement is not included and/or lacks answering questions completely and clearly. Conclusion is not included and there is lack of topical significance.

Essay is well organized. The purpose of each paragraph is clear, with strong topic sentences linked to thesis. Content is consistent and appropriate to topic. Paper is organized logically.
