RL 3.1, RI 3.1Asking and Answering Questions about Text Asking and Answering Questions about Text Students will use the close reading strategy to ask and answer questions about an informational text. Students will ask and answer questions about the text, referring explicitly to the text for their answers. Students will use prior knowledge to answer questions. 	Novice 1 pts	Emerging 2 pts	Approaching 3 pts	Proficient 4 pts
Accuracy	Novice Student is unable to correctly answer any questions about a text. The answer does not make sense. Answer is incorrect or no response is given.	Emerging Student is able to correctly answer some questions about a text. Some of the answers make sense. Answer is incomplete.	Approaching Student is able to answer most questions about a text. Most of the answers make sense.	Proficient Student is able to answer all questions correctly. All of the answers make sense.
Details and Support	Novice The student provides no details or support from the text.	Emerging The student provides limited details or support from the text.	Approaching The student provides details and support from the text.	Proficient The student provides many details and support from the text.
Mechanics	Novice The student exhibited numerous capitalization, and/or punctuation errors.	Emerging Some of the student's answers are corrected for capitalization, and/or punctuation errors.	Approaching The student's answers have mostly been corrected or contain only a few errors in capitalization, and/ or punctuation errors.	Proficient The student's answers are free of any capitalization, and or punctuation errors.
