Intro. Strategy	Poor Minimmal introduction used. Little to no focus on topic found.	Fair Intro strategy in place. No connection or elaboration on focus of paper.	Good Intro strategy is apparent. Connection with theme of paper is easily understandable.
Focus on topic	Poor Paragraph tends to stray away from the topic of prompt. Not persuasive in nature.	Fair Paragraph stays focused on prompt with minimal distractions to the reader. Paragraph strays away from being persuasive at points.	Good Paragraph is constantly on topic. Relevant details are given with reference to the focus. Paragraph remains persuasive in nature.
Vocabulary	Poor Vocabulary is stifled and vague in meaning.	Fair Vocabulary shows higher level thinking but is not consistant with meaning.	Good Vocabulary appropriate for use. Descriptive words are evident with synonyms used when appropriate.
Conventions	Poor Spelling, Punc., Handwriting a distraction to the reader because of multiple mistakes (three or more errors in spelling or punctuation).	Fair Spelling, Punc. Handwriting needs some basic work (one or two errors in spelling or punctuation).
