Student is for the most part prepared, has practiced and/or rehearsed content and is fairly comfortable speaking but may hesitate some. Some time was invested outside of class to prepare this presentation.
Fair

Student is only partially prepared and may not have practiced and/or rehearsed content sufficiently outside of class Student sometimes seems uncomfortable speaking.
Poor

Student is not prepared, and has not practiced and/or rehearsed content outside of class. and is comfortable speaking. Student seems uncomfortable speaking and lacks adequate preparation.
Grammar/Vocabulary

Excellent

Students utilizes previous learned vocabulary well and also works to use and apply new vocabulary. Student has almost no grammatical errors (1-2) and errors do not interfere with comprehension. Student employs compound sentences, cohesive devices, and transition words.
Good

Students utilizes some of previous learned vocabulary and
may use a few new vocabulary words. Student has some grammatical errors (3-4) but most do not interfere with comprehension. Student employs simple sentences and may use a few cohesive devices, or transition words.
Fair

Students struggles to utilize previous learned vocabulary and does not use any new vocabulary. Student has almost quite a few grammatical errors (5-6)
Poor

Students is not able to use previous learned vocabulary or any new vocabulary well. Student has many grammatical errors (more than 6) that interfere with comprehension.
Pronunciation/Fluency

Excellent

Student demonstrates excellent pronunciation with few very errors and could be understood by a native speaker and audience.
Good

Student demonstrates adequate pronunciation with a few errors and a few hesitations. Most of presentation could be understood by a native speaker or the audience.
Fair

Student has difficulty with pronunciation, some halted speech and hesitation. Some interpretation is needed by a native speaker and/or the audience.
Poor

Student struggles with pronunciation and has many errors. Student could not be understood by a native speaker or by the audience.
Follow-up Questions

Excellent

Student has no difficulty understanding or processing follow-up questions and/or verbal feedback and is able to respond fluently and logically.
Good

Student has some difficulty understanding or processing follow-up questions and/or verbal feedback but for the most part is able to respond with short logical answers.
Fair

Student has quite a bit of difficulty understanding or processing follow-up questions and/or verbal feedback. Student may comprehend questions but may not be able to respond.
Poor

Student has a lot of difficulty understanding or processing follow-up questions and/or verbal feedback. Student is not able to respond.
