Very confident that the viewer understands the message and theme visually presented. The art demonstrates a very unique perspective.
STRONG
The piece was successful with representing the theme and it's on the verge of representing moods or feelings. Viewer might not necessarily understand the artist's point of view or be able to make their own views.
GOOD
Sense of Purpose, but needs a little more work. Although a theme is present the piece doesn't express a mood or feelings along with it.
WEAK
Emerging, the idea is there but it doesn't promote any thinking beyond the image chosen.
POOR
Most of the art wasn't an original thought and theme is not apparent.
Craftsmanship/ Skill
EXCELLENT
The artwork shows advanced or outstanding craftsmanship,with clear attention to detail. The sketches and photos were used well and planned out thoroughly for final use.
STRONG
The artwork shows very good or proficient craftmanship, with some attention to detail. Sketches and photos were used, but there isn't a tight correlation between the sketches and final piece.
GOOD
The artwork shows average or basic craftmanship and attention to detail. Sketches and photos weren't very helpful or enough time wasn't take on the pre-planning.
WEAK
The artwork shows below average to very poor craftmanship and little attention to detail. Carelessness. Sketches were done fast and not helpful at all.
POOR
No sketches or pre-planning OR craftsmanship is very messy.
Creativity/ Originality/
EXCELLENT
The selected artwork demonstrates original personal expression and outstanding problem solving skills. The student encompassed many of the art elements and principles to have an outstanding piece.
STRONG
The artwork demonstrates some personal expression and logical problem solving skills. The art elements and principles are still lacking and the piece is somewhat lacking.
GOOD
The artwork demonstrates an average amount of personal expression. The art elements and principles are not used very well and the piece is basic and straight forward
WEAK
The artwork demonstrates little personal expression and problem solving skills. Very few of the art element and principles are presented successful.
POOR
The artwork demonstrates no personal expression and problem solving skills.
Effort
EXCELLENT
The student put forth extraordinary effort inside and outside of the classroom to complete the project well as possible; used class time extremely well.
STRONG
The student put forth the effort required to complete the project well; used class time well. and took the piece home a few times.
GOOD
The student put forth the effort required to finish the project; used class time only.
WEAK
The student put forth little effort required to finish the project and rushed towards the end to finish it.
POOR
The piece isn't entirely finished and class time was not used adequately.
Image Choice
EXCELLENT
Image choice was original and done with excellence. It's apparent the artist has a thought provoking piece that goes beyond a visual conception.
STRONG
Image choice was either original or found via internet/magazine/book but artist made the image into their own. The piece still is thought provoking and unique.
GOOD
Image choice was not original and artist used exact image to redraw. The piece is done pretty well, but is very visual and doesn't leave the viewer with too many ideas of what the concept behind the piece is.
WEAK
The image was almost copied right from the source and the piece isn't very original.
POOR
The image chosen doesn't represent the artist's theme.
Medium Usage
EXCELLENT
There is a high level of craftsmanship the artist conveys through the piece due to previous exploration (most show proof). There has been careful consideration when executing the medium.
STRONG
There is a good level of understanding the execution of the medium choice. Some planning (must show) was done, but artist has little visual hiccups with the medium presented in the piece.
GOOD
There is a basic level of understanding the medium of choice. Very little planning was done and artist worked too fast to somewhat master the medium. This resulted in some fundamental errors.
WEAK
There are a decent amount of visual-fundamental errors with the use of the medium and no planning was done.
POOR
The medium was not a good choice and was not done well due to a lack of knowledge or poor levels of demonstration.
