Original Short Story Original Short Story: Memorist's Creative Writing Students will create an original short story. The story must have a definite beginning, middle, and an end. Keep your story relatively short with a minimum of 4 paragraphs. Use one of the methods used to generate writing writing to gather ideas for your story and hand in a draft for teacher editing. The final copy will be marked on proper paragraph form, grammar/mechanics and content in a short story form. There are few indents and there are many incomplete or only simple sentences. The sequencing of events are not clear and are not evident in paragraph form.	Good The story includes the required 4 paragraphs. Proper use of indents and complete sentences are evident. The sequencing of events is clear and in appropriate paragraph form.	Excellent The story includes a minimum of 4 paragraphs. All paragraphs begin with an indent and all sentences are complete and in a more complex form. The sequencing of events is clear and in appropriate paragraph form.
Revision	Poor No or minimal revisions were completed.	Fair A partial revision was attempted. Few teacher's comments were considered in the final version.	Good One revision was completed and the teacher's comments were considered in the final version.	Excellent Student revised repeatedly or extensively. Many of the teacher's comments were considered in the final version.
Writing Conventions	Poor Most of the sentences are missing capitals and/or correct punctuation.	Fair Many sentences are missing capitals and/or correct punctuation.
