HS Choir Sight Reading Test HS Choir Sight Reading Test Students will sing a sight reading excerpt. They will be assessed on that performance and this rubrics shows how that grade will be determined. Sight Reading
	Advanced 12 pts	Proficient 10 pts	Basic 8 pts	Emerging 5 pts
Performance 20%	Advanced Student performs the piece with confidence and does not need any assistance or restarts.	Proficient Student performs the piece with some confidence and needs minor assistance or a restart.	Basic Student performs with not much confidence and needs some assistance and/or several restarts.	Emerging Student stops several times and/or needs much assistance.
Rhythm 30%	Advanced Student ALWAYS sings rhythms accurately.	Proficient Student MOSTLY sings rhythms accurately.	Basic Student SOMETIMES sings rhythms accurately.	Emerging Student made attempt but is NOT ABLE sing rhythms accurately at this time.
Syllables 10%	Advanced Student ALWAYS performs the sight reading example on the correct solfege syllables.	Proficient Student MOSTLY performs the sight reading example on the correct solfege syllables.	Basic Student SOMETIMES performs the sight reading example on the correct solfege syllables.	Emerging Student made attempt but is NOT ABLE to perform the sight reading example on the correct solfege syllables.
Notes 30%	Advanced Student ALWAYS sings the correct part.	Proficient Student MOSTLY sings the correct part.	Basic Student SOMETIMES sings the correct part.	Emerging Student made attempt but is NOT ABLE to sing the correct part at this time.
Tone Quality 10%	Advanced Student ALWAYS performs with strong tone.	Proficient Student MOSTLY sings with strong tone, but has some moments of breathy or unsupported singing	Basic Student SOMETIMES sings with strong tone, but most of the performance employs breathy unsupported tone.	Emerging Student made attempt but DID NOT sing with a strong, supported tone.
