Construction Quality
Poor
The remote-controlled car was built with an abundance of major errors and flaws that cause inefficiencies and issues with the overall functionality of the vehicle. The appearance of the vehicle is horrible and it is evident that the bare minimum amount of time and effort was put into the creation of the frame and exterior. Absolutely no attempt was made to hide wires or other technical components.
Fair
The remote-controlled car was built with several major errors or flaws that affect the functionality of the vehicle. The appearance of the vehicle is not particularly pleasing and it is evident that little time and effort was put into the creation of the frame and exterior.
Good
The remote-controlled car was built with few major errors or flaws. The appearance of the vehicle is somewhat pleasing and it is evident that some time and effort was put into the creation of the frame and exterior.
Excellent
The remote-controlled car was built with absolutely no major errors or flaws. The appearance of the vehicle is visually pleasing and it is evident that time and effort were put into the creation of the frame and exterior.
Functionality
Poor
The vehicle is not able to exceed a speed of 10 miles per hour and is not able to fare in at least 2 of the 4 different types of specified terrain (gravel, grass, dirt, and sand).
Fair
The vehicle is able to exceed a speed of 10 miles per hour and is able to somewhat fare in at least 2 of the 4 different types of specified terrain (gravel, grass, dirt, and sand).
Good
The vehicle is able to exceed a speed of 15 miles per hour and is able to fare decently in 3 of the 4 different types of specified terrain (gravel, grass, dirt, and sand).
Excellent
The vehicle is able to exceed a speed of 20 miles per hour and is able to efficiently fare in all of the 4 different types of specified terrain (gravel, grass, dirt, and sand). The vehicle contains an additional apparatus that allows it to store and fire projectiles in response to remote feedback.
Programming Quality
Poor
The programming aspect of the vehicle has an abundance of flaws and does not or barely works. The vehicle is not able to be operated remotely and requires the use of cables or wires to transmit information between the remote and the vehicle. Python was not used in the slightest to program the vehicle.
Fair
The programming aspect of the vehicle has several flaws and is somewhat clunky and inefficient. The vehicle is able to be operated completely remotely and from a reasonable distance of greater than 10 feet. An outdated version of Python was the language used for programming.
Good
The programming aspect of the vehicle has few flaws and runs smoothly and efficiently. The vehicle is able to be operated completely remotely and from a reasonable distance of greater than 15 feet. A version of Python was the language used for programming.
Excellent
The programming aspect of the vehicle is flawless and consistently runs smoothly and efficiently. The vehicle is able to be operated completely remotely and from a decent distance of greater than 20 feet. The latest version of Python was the language used for programming.
Documentation
Poor
Few to none of the steps of the project were documented and the steps could not be used as a guide for others to follow to create a similar project. Neither pictures nor videos were taken to show the progression of the project and the steps required to complete it. Methods of documentation were essentially not used throughout the entirety of the project.
Fair
Some of the steps of the project were documented in detail, while others were not documented at all, and the steps might be able to be used as a scattered and unorganized guide for others to follow to create a similar project. Either pictures or videos were taken to show the progression of the project and the steps required to complete it.
Good
The majority of the steps of the project were documented in detail and could be used as a guide for others to follow to create a similar project. Both pictures or videos were taken to show the progression of the project and the steps required to complete it.
Excellent
All steps of the project were documented in complete detail and could be used as a definitive guide for others to follow to create a similar project. Both pictures and videos were taken to show the progression of the project and the steps required to complete it.
Knowledge Gained
Poor
The student gained little to no information regarding engineering and programming and definitely could not use the skills to complete projects of equal magnitude. If the project had actually been completed properly, knowledge could have been gained by the student.
Fair
The student gained some information regarding engineering and programming and could use the skills in the future to complete similar projects. Much more knowledge could have been gained throughout the project given that more complex strategies were used and that the project were completed more thoroughly.
Good
The student gained a large amount of information regarding engineering and programming and could use the skills in the future to complete similar projects. More knowledge could have been gained throughout the project given that more complex strategies were used.
Excellent
The student gained an immense amount of information regarding engineering and programming and could use the skills in unison in the future to complete similar or potentially more complex projects.
