Specific	Excellent Clearly focused on the desired outcome	Met Expectations Focused on the desired outcome but requires clarification	Needs Improvement Not focused on the desired outcome
Measurable	Excellent Will be measurable by explaining the steps that displays the process the provides clear indication of the students goal progress.	Met Expectations Will be only partly measurable by explaining the steps that displays the process the provides clear indication of the students goal progress.	Needs Improvement Evidence of progress will be provided, but will display the steps that indicate progress
Attainable	Excellent The goal is within reason of the student’s abilities and can be achieved	Met Expectations The goal is mostly reasonable given the student’s abilities and can probably be achieved	Needs Improvement The goal is only partially reasonable given the student’s abilities and will likely not be achieved
Realistic/Relevant	Excellent Goal is directly connected to relevant topics and is in a realistic state to achieve.	Met Expectations Goal is related to topic, but also focuses on other areas and is suspected to achieve.	Needs Improvement Goal is more relevant to something other than selected topic and not realistic.
Timely	Excellent Has a definite date of what will be accomplished by this date.	Met Expectations Has an indefinite date of what will be accomplished by this date yet is within the time frame of this school year.	Needs Improvement Has an indefinite date of what will be accomplished by this date AND has an unclear time frame by which the goal should be accomplished.
