Communication Students will record an oral explanation of what steps were taken to solve a 3-digit subtraction equation.	Beginner No clear explanation of material is expressed. The solution is incorrect. There are no logical steps in the solution process.	Intermediate Partial explanation is expressed. Portions of the explanatory process are missing. Some steps of a process are included.	Advanced Full comprehension is expressed through organized explanation of steps highlighted by mathematical language and notation.
Representation Students will solve two 3-digit subtraction equations and show their work.	Beginner No explanation is shown.	Intermediate A partial explanation is shown through the use of words or numeric expression; there is no clear means to an end.
