Sabotage lab 
Students will be assigned a partner and creatively sabotage his/her partner's PC by making changes in the software/hardware environment. All changes must be documented. Student will then return to his/her PC and attempt to undo the changes made by his/her partner.

Student complied with all personal and equipment safety guidelines including using ESD protection and following staff’s instructions regarding powering devices on or off. These include taking ESD precautions (wrist strap, antistatic bags, placement of components), following instructions regarding powering on/energizing equipment, wearing closed toe shoes, and removing all metallic jewelry before working on equipment.

Student failed to take proper precautions regarding ESD damage to equipment. Student did not comply with policy regarding powering on/energizing equipment. Student did not comply with personal safety standards including wearing closed-toe shoes and removing all metallic jewelry. Student needed to be reminded multiple times to comply with guidelines.

Sabotage

Student demonstrated a thorough knowledge of hardware, BIOS/UEFI settings, and Windows settings and configuration tools in creatively sabotaging their partner’s PC. Student kept a complete list of all changes made to partner’s PC. Students may not employ any damaging, illegal, or otherwise unethical uses of software/hardware/online resources when performing this lab.

Student did little or nothing to actively sabotage his/her partner's hardware/software environment. Student employed illegal, unethical, or destructive methods in sabotaging partner's computer. Student did not document any of the changes he/she made.
Fair

Student put forth minimal effort sabotaging partner's computer. Configuration changes were few and easily changed. Student employed methods that were borderline unethical or destructive. Student showed little knowledge of hardware, BIOS/UEFI, and Windows settings. Student did not fully document changes made to partner's PC.
Good

Student showed creativity and a satisfactory knowledge of hardware/software/UEFI in sabotaging partner's PC. Changes significantly affected the user experience and were challenging to find and change for the partner. Student fully documented all changes and did not employ any prohibited methods.
Excellent

Student showed and in-depth knowledge of hardware, software, and BIOS/UEFI settings and creatively applied this knowledge to the lab. The student employed devious but ethical/legal/nondestructive methods in sabotaging his/her partner's PC. Student kept thorough notes of all changes.
Recovery

Student demonstrated a thorough knowledge of hardware, BIOS/UEFI settings, and Windows settings and configuration tools in creatively troubleshooting and restoring his/her PC after sabotage by a lab partner. Student should keep a written list of all changes detected/remedied.

Poor

Student showed a severe lack of hardware, software, and BIOS/UEFI configuration in attempting to repair his/her PC. Student did no troubleshooting of the PC and immediately gave up and asked for help from the instructor or his/her partner.
Fair

Student showed a minimal knowledge of hardware, software, and BIOS/UEFI configuration and was able to solve fewer than half of the changes made by his/her partner without aid.
Good

Student showed a satisfactory knowledge of hardware, software, and BIOS/UEFI configuration and was able to solve the majority of changes without aid.
Excellent

Student showed a mastery level knowledge of hardware, software, and BIOS/UEFI configuration and was able to solve all of the changes without aid.

Student successfully detected and reversed all listed configurations changes before confirming they’d done so using lab partner’s list.
