Hypothesis	Getting Started - 1 Lacks/not understandable/unorganized hypothesis	Making Progress - 2 Hypothesis is vague and not well developed. Does not use the needed science vocabulary	Meeting - 3 Hypothesis is clear and well developed. Science vocabulary is used to the extent needed.	Exceeding - 4 Hypothesis is clear and well developed. Science vocabulary is used beyond the extent needed. Hypothesis is connected to outcomes of other similar investigations.
Process	Getting Started - 1 Process is missing.	Making Progress - 2 Process is missing many steps.	Meeting - 3 Process is clear and steps are stated.	Exceeding - 4 Process is clear and steps are stated: identifying independent and dependent variables and controls, what tools are needed to do the gathering, how many measurements will be recorded, and how many data are needed to support the claim.
