Project displays a sound understanding of the characters, plot, and theme in the novel, but this understanding lacks depth and/or complexity of analysis. Student utilizes some elements from the novel to evaluate.

Project displays a basic understanding of the characters, plot, and theme in the novel. Student does not utilize sufficient elements to demonstrate thorough analysis/evaluation of events, characters, theme, etc.

Student provides accurate and detailed explanations where explanations are required. In projects where characters, events, and timelines need evaluation, the student hits the mark.

Student provides accurate and somewhat detailed explanations where explanations are required. In projects where characters, events, and timelines are evaluated, the student mostly hits the mark.
Satisfactory
Student provides explanations as required, although they are not as detailed or accurate as desired. Only surface explanation provided instead of in-depth analysis/evaluation.
Fair
Student provides simple explanations instead of required depth for analysis/evaluation. Chosen events, characters, etc. do not provide sufficient explanation of analysis or evaluation.
Poor
Student provides few explanations where they are required. Events, timelines and characters are referred to incorrectly. No proof of analysis or evaluation.

The student needs to spend more time in quality proofreading and editing as the final project has a few too many errors.
Fair
Comprehension and/or presentation of the project is difficult because of errors and/or poor preparation for presentation.
Poor
Clearly, the student has not spent adequate time in proofreading and editing.
