The speaker introduced the speech, but some details were unclear. The introduction lacked an attention getter and/or a preview of main points.

The speaker introduced the speech adequately, including an attention getter and a preview of the main points of the speech.
Excellent

The speaker introduced the speech well, including an attention getter and a preview of main points of the speech. The speaker was enthusiastic about the topic and brought the audience into the speech.
Content

Needs Improvement

The speech was difficult to follow due to a lack of organization. Little detail was given to support the main points.
Fair

The speaker delivered adequate information about the topic. The speech lacked organization and/or detail to the extent that some main points were unclear.
Good

The speaker used logical order and relevant details to deliver his/her information. Adequate transitions were used.
Excellent

Logical, coherent organization and relevant information helped convey the speaker's message clearly. Detail and word choice were appropriate to the purpose. Smooth transitions were used.

Audience had difficulty hearing and/or understanding much of the speech due to low volume. Very little expression was shown.

The student spoke loudly and clearly enough to be easily understood. The speaker used adequate expression and rate.

Consistent and effective volume, articulation, and expression were present in the speaker's voice. Appropriate rate and pausing were employed.
Eye Contact/ prep

The speaker seldom looked at the audience. Speaker was not prepared.

The speaker looked up occasionally and focused on only a few people during the speech. Needed practice time. Speaker seemed unprepared.

The speaker looked at much of the audience often.
Speaker could have used more practice but it was obvious that they had put some prep time in.

The speaker looked at all of the audience most of the time. Obvious that the speaker put in significant practice time.

The speaker's posture and expression indicated a lack of enthusiasm or comfortableness with the speech. Some movements were very distracting and made the speech difficult to follow.

The speaker maintained adequate posture and non-distracting movement during the speech. Expressions were comfortable.

The speaker maintained good posture. Movements were purposeful and enhanced the delivery of the speech. Facial expressions were comfortable and showed enthusiasm for the topic.
