Opinion Writing
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Introduction	Poor Shows 1 or less components of an introduction.	Fair Shows 2 of the components of an introduction.	Good Shows all 3 components of an introduction: Hooks the reader, names the topic, tells opinion.
Reasons and Examples	Poor Gives 1 reason and example that matches OR Gives more than one reason, but examples do not strongly match	Fair Gives 2-3 reasons and examples that match OR Gives all four reasons, but examples do not strongly match	Good Gives four reasons and clear examples that strongly match.
Conclusion	Poor Conclusion shows one of the three parts correctly.	Fair Conclusion shows two of the three parts correctly.	Good Conclusion has three parts clearly written: Restates opinion, summarizes all four reasons, and gives a final thought.
Revising	Poor Writing shows one of the three parts.	Fair Writing shows two of the three parts.	Good Writing makes sense, uses strong words, and gives enough details.
Editing	Poor Writing has little of the four parts correct.	Fair Writing has some of the four parts correct.	Good Writing has all four parts correct: spaces between words, capitals, punctuation, spelling.
