USE OF FUTURE TENSE
Poor
0-2 sentences formed using the future tense. Student shows very little ability to use the future tense. Although student tries to use future tense, the sentences are grammatically incorrect and contain numerous errors.
Fair
2-3 sentences used in the future tense. Student shows little ability to use the future tense. Sentences formed in the future tense contain multiple errors in formation.
Good
4-5 sentences formed correctly using the future tense. Student shows good ability to use the future tense correctly with few mistakes.
Excellent
5 or more sentences formed correctly using the future tense. Student shows mastery of the use of the simple future tense.
STORY LINE
Poor
Student shows very little ability to describe what their goals or past experiences were. They do not explain anything in particular detail and the piece is not easily understood.
Fair
Student is able to tell a small portion of the story line. Student has a few good ideas that are built upon but not enough. There is a level of clarity and theme through it.
Good
Student can clearly tell the story with some errors. Student can speak specifically about their goals and experiences. There is a strong theme that they are able to convey.
Excellent
Student can clearly and articulately tell the story line. They are able to give clear and detailed descriptions of what their future will be like. The piece is engaging and has a clear theme that is concluded at the end.
VOCABULARY USAGE
Poor
Student clearly demonstrates a lack of ability to use the necessary vocabulary to express their ideas.
Fair
Student shows an ability to use minimal vocabulary. Student possesses limited vocabulary that allows him/her to describe the story in a broken or choppy manner.
Good
Student possesses the ability to use the necessary vocabulary to convey their ideas and tell a story. Student uses past vocabulary as well as new vocabulary.
Excellent
Student possesses great ability to use the necessary vocabulary to tell the story. Student uses past vocabulary as well as new vocabulary. The vocabulary is used correctly and in the right context.
GRAMMAR USAGE
Poor
Student demonstrates numerous and pervasive vocabulary and grammar errors that keep listener from understanding the story. Student cannot use present tense or future tense correctly. Student cannot conjugate verbs correctly.
Fair
Numerous grammatical and vocabulary errors exist that make it difficult for listener to understand parts of the story. Student uses some present tense correctly and uses minimal future tense.
Good
Some grammatical and vocabulary errors exist, but they do not prevent listener from understanding the story line. Student uses some present tense and future tense correctly. Student shows adequate mastery.
Excellent
Very few errors in grammar and vocabulary exist. These errors do not prevent listener from understanding the story line. Student is able to use future and present tense correctly and switches easily from one to the other.
