Slab Plate 
Students use the slab hand building method with a plate mold to make a clay plate. Students use underglaze to design their plates.

The slab was carefully pressed on the slab roller. The slab was sufficiently compressed. The edges of the plate have been cleanly finished. The plate is even in thickness with no uneven areas or cracks.
A foot is secured to the bottom and a name and firing temp. was plainly etched into the bottom. It has been allowed to dry slowly.

The edges of the plate have been somewhat cleanly finished. A little more attention could of make the work excellent. The plate is mostly even in thickness and there are no cracks. There is a foot but it does not sit flat.

The edges of the plate have been poorly finished. The plate is uneven and there are obvious cracks. No foot.

The edges of the plate are unfinished. The plate is not able to be fired due to poor construction. No foot applied.
