The question is clearly restated/reworded in the response. The reader knows what to expect. The reader is reminded of the purpose at the end.
Excellent

The question is clearly restated/reworded in the response. The reader knows what to expect. The reader is reminded of the purpose at the end. The writer included relevant elements that go beyond the the question's requrements.
Answer

The answer should be unambiguous and written in a complete sentence.

Poor

There is no answer or the answer has nothing to do with the question.
Fair

The answer is partially correct, incomplete, or student does not show a clear understanding of how to proceed.
Good

The question is answered fully and correctly, showing that the writer knows what is being asked.
Excellent

The answer demonstrates a genuine effort to think critically and/or a high level of understanding and responding to the question.
Cite

The source of the supporting evidence must be provided, although a complete citation is not needed.

There are no examples provided.
Fair

One example is provided or examples are present, but do not support the answer.
Good

Two or more relevant examples are provided and they fully support the answer.
Excellent

Several relevant examples are provided and they not only support the answer, but also demonstrate great effort in attempting to provide the supporting evidence.
Explain

The explanation should demonstrate how the evidence or examples supports the answer.

Poor

No attempt to support the answer and examples have been made.
Fair

The response attempts to supply reasoning and/or inferences which supports the answer.
Good

The response supplies reasoning and/or inferencing which adeuately supports the answer.
Excellent

The response indicates that the writer went beyond the question's requirements in order to provide high level reasoning and/or inferencing which strongly supports the answer.
