Assignments are complete and work is thoughtful and appropriately supported by the text.	Advanced Work is thoughtful and extends beyond the text with allusions to additional ideas and readings.
Participation	Minimal Does not contribute or fails to refer to the text during the discussion.	Basic Contributes to the discussion in a limited way that may or may not be related to the text.	Proficient Shares valuable insights and ideas. Remains focused on the questions posed and responds clearly.	Advanced Expands the discussion by bringing new information relevant to the question posed.
Reflection	Minimal Little or no connection to the ideas generated during discussion.	Basic Makes connections to the discussion that show some insight but may show some misinterpretation.	Proficient Reflects on the discussion and extends reaction to the reading and general discussion.	Advanced Generates critical examination of the discussion and provides additional applications.
