	Exceeding 4 pts	Standard 3 pts	Satisfactory 2 pts	Emerging 1 pts
Content	Exceeding Questions contain relevant information Critical thinking is necessary to answer the questions. It is clear from the questions that the author knows the subject.	Standard Questions contain information from the story, but many do not require more than surface knowledge to answer. Author generally knows the story, but some confusion exists in the question.	Satisfactory Questions often ask questions not directly related to the storyline or may focus on insignificant details. Author does not appear to know the full storyline.	Emerging Questions do not relate to the story.
Question Formation	Exceeding Proper grammar and punctuation are present. It is clear to the reader what the question is asking.	Standard Grammar may not perfect - question may contain 1 or 2 errors. It is generally clear what the question is asking. Some confusion may exist.	Satisfactory Poor grammar with 3 or more errors. Questions marks may or may not be used. It is difficult to understand what the question is asking.	Emerging Grammar errors are numerous. Question marks are not used. Questions are confusing and may appear as statements instead of questions.
Answer Creation	Exceeding Each question has 4 thoughtful answer possibilities that are connected to the story and promote critical thinking.	Standard Each question has 4 answer possibilities that are generally connected to the story.	Satisfactory Questions may be missing one answer possibility. Correct answer is included, but may not fit the question perfectly. Answers seem random.	Emerging Questions have 3 or fewer answers. The correct answer is not included.
Content Covered	Exceeding There is at least 1 questions that covers each of the main topics.	Standard The questions cover most of the topics.	Satisfactory The questions leave two or more topics out.	Emerging The questions do not cover the content related to the test.
