Principles of Art Design
Student will create a design that demonstrates several requested elements of art (line, shape, color, space, form, space , and texture) with media described on handout in a specified triangle. The design should demonstrate an understanding of the elements of art. . Various media are used to practice skills. Students are encouraged to incorporate symbols, elements, and themes that reflect their personality and interests.

Creativity

Level 1 Poor

The student shows an undeveloped knowledge and application of the elements of art and/or project may not be finished.
Level 2 "Meh"

The student shows a developing knowledge and application of the art elements and shows some creativity in design.
Level 3 Good

The student demonstrates knowledge and application of design elements and shows creativity in design.
Level 4 Excellent

The student shows an advanced knowledge and application of design elements and shows excellent creativity in design.
Follows directions

Follows directions daily.
Level 1 Poor

The student does not follow the directions.
Level 2 "Meh"

The student follows the direction with some deviation.
Level 3 Good

The student follows the directions with no deviation.
Level 4 Excellent

The student follows the directions precisely with no deviation.
Craftsmanship

Neatness demonstrated through designing, drawing, coloring, and using art media.
Level 1 Poor

The student does not make efforts to neatly use art materials.
Level 2 "Meh"

Craftmanship and neatness is not consistant.
Level 3 Good

The student demonstrates good craftmanship and neatness when using chosen art materials.
Level 4 Excellent

Excellent craftsmanship is demonstrated throughout the process of the project.
Attitude/Use of Class Time

Level 1 Poor

Student is at times argumentive and/or uninvolved.
Level 2 "Meh"

Student is distracted and /or not doing assignment and needs reminders about task. Talking more than working in a distracting way.
Level 3 Good

Student demonstrates good attitude and redirection is rare.
Level 4 Excellent

Student demonstrates excellent attitude and work skills.
Student Citizenship

Level 1 Poor

Student has much difficulty following classroom rules.
Level 2 "Meh"

Student needs reminders to follow rules like reading the "Do Now" directions , bringing a pencil, and/or working quietly.
Level 3 Good

Student follows class rules well, redirection is rare.
Level 4 Excellent

Student follows all classroom rules independently.
