Good
The introduction & thesis statement are fairly well developed. The thesis statement is fairly clear and mainly answers the writing prompt.
Fair
The introduction & thesis statement do not give accurate and complete information, or it is difficult to understand.
Poor
There is no thesis statement. Student might have written an introduction but it doesn't answer the prompt.
Body Paragraphs

Student includes 3 body paragraphs that clearly relate to the writing prompt. Student uses textual evidence from the text to support their assertions/claims.

Conclusion
Excellent
The concluding paragraph effectively unifies the essay. It makes a point about the process that is creative and interesting.
Good
The concluding paragraph effectively unifies the essay, but it does not make a very interesting point about the process.
Fair
The concluding paragraph relates a conclusion to the process, but it does little to unify the essay around the steps of the process.
Poor
There is no apparent conclusion or ending paragraph to wrap up writing response.
Organization/Structure
Excellent
Logical progression of details with a clear structure that enhances the essay.
Student has 3 separate body paragraphs with sentences building off of each other to describe the main points in the essay.
Good
Logical progression of details makes sense and answers the prompt.
Fair
Organization is clear. However, some details might be out of order making the writing response difficult to understand.

Writing response is disorganized and body paragraphs either use run-on sentences or do not make sense.
