Diorama Book Report Rubric
Students read a book, made a diorama, and wrote a one page paper explaining how their diorama relates to the book, and why the scene they created was important to the story overall.

Student uses a variety of sentence types and lengths creating good flow and tone. They are thorough in their explanation of the connection between their diorama and their novel.

Student is mostly clear, but some aspects are confusing/incomplete. This could be due to an unfinished explanation, or something written in a manner that is unclear.
Fair
Student has been partially cleat, but significant portions of their one page paper do not make sense, or have incomplete explanations.
poor
Student's one page paper is excessively unclear. a majority of the sentences are incomplete and confusing, and it is not clear what the student was trying to say.
Creativity and Effort
Excellent
Student used highly creative methods to create their scene in their diorama and they obviously took effort to make sure it looked nice and completely represented an important scene in their book.
Good
Student's work shows creativity and some effort, though their is evidence of sloppiness, or incomplete aspects of the paper or diorama.
Fair
Student turned in a project, but the level of completion/ effort/ creativity was low. It looks rushed and/or unfinished.
poor
Student clearly and blatantly made little to no effort. The one page paper is either incomplete or unfinished, and/or the diorama is very minimal and does not properly represent a scene from their novel.
Format and Organization
Excellent
Student's one page paper has multiple paragraphs and is formatted properly (indented paragraphs, proper heading, title).
Good
Student has mostly formatted their paper properly but some aspect of their paragraphs or heading is incorrect.
Fair
Student has significant errors in their heading and paragraph formatting.
poor
Student has not formatted any aspect of their heading or paragraphs properly.
Connection to Novel
Excellent
Student has clearly connected their diorama to their novel and completely explained that connection.
Good
Student has mostly connected their diorama to their novel and mostly explained the connection, but there are some confusing aspects and/or some parts that were not fully explained.
Fair
Student has clearly attempted to make a connection to the novel, but that connection is unclear, confusing, and/or incomplete.
poor
Student has made little or no clear connection to the novel.
