Make a claim	Poor I do not make a claim.	Fair I make a claim but it is unclear.	Good I make a claim but do not explain why it is important.	Excellent I make a claim and explain why it is important.
Give reasons to support the claim	Poor I do not give convincing reasons in support of the claim.	Fair I give one or two reasons that don't support the claim well.	Good I give reasons to support the claim but overlook an important reason.	Excellent I give clear and accurate reasons to support the claim.
Restate the claim.	Poor I do not restate the claim.	Fair I restate part of the claim and leave out missing information.	Good I restate the claim and leave out missing information.	Excellent I restate the claim.
