Carefully studied observational self-portrait drawing. Pencil and graphite powder are the media used to build a range of value. Notice that there is no grade for likeness. The proportions, value, craft and effort are most important.

The student put forth little effort required to finish the project; class time was not used well.
Craftsmanship

Advanced

Great pride and care has been taken by the artist to present a neat, unmarred, and flat final composition ready for mounting.
Accomplished

Composition shows some lack of care- slightly creased or smudged.
Proficient

Composition shows greater lack of care- multiple creases or crumpled, smudges, etc.
Apprentice

Composition shows signs of neglect that demonstrate the artist's lack of pride in the work.
