Creative Self Portraits

Art Making Technique	Exceeding Portrait is VERY carefully conceived and drawn; All features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, ears, neck, and shoulders) are drawn in an incredibly unique and creative way and the portrait LOOKS VERY MUCH LIKE THE ARTIST. Materials are used and applied VERY skillfully.	Meeting Portrait is carefully drawn, has all features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, ears, neck, and shoulders). The student uses and applies the materials appropriately.	Developing Portrait lacks features (eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, hair, and ears), and creative thinking The use of materials and application is basic.	Beginning Student did not finish the self-portrait, or rushes at the end to get it done. Much detail is missing. Materials and techniques incorrectly used.
Level of Engagement	Exceeding Class time is used VERY WELL Respect to fellow students, the teacher, and materials is VERY evident throughout the entire class.	Meeting The project is finished in the class time allowed. The student works well.	Developing Class time is NOT USED WELL. Student is often off task and not respectful of fellow students, the teacher, and/or materials.	Beginning Little or no effort for this project demonstrated.
Creativity During Class Activities	Exceeding Student showed that was thinking outside of the box - going beyond what he/she would normally create and used different media such as different colored paper, markers, paints, etc.	Meeting Student created exactly what was required of and nothing more. He/she used media wisely. that did not go beyond what is normally expected of me.	Developing Student created less than what was required and did not explore the usage of media deeply enough. He/she did not go beyond what is normally expected.	Beginning Student did not show any spark of creativity and did not want to try to explore different media.
