	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Paragraph Stucture	Excellent Paragraph begins with an indent and contains an excellent mix of simple, compound, and complex sentences.	Good Paragraph begins with an indent and contains some compound and complex sentences.	Fair Paragraph may or may not have an indent and contains mostly simple sentences .	Poor Paragraph is not complete. There is no indent and contains incomplete or only simple sentences.
Revision	Excellent Student revised repeatedly and/ or extensively. Many of the teacher's comments were considered in the final copy.	Good One revision was completed and some of the teacher's comments were considered in the final copy.	Fair A partial revision was attempted; however, few of the teacher's comments were considered in the final copy.	Poor No or minimal revisions were completed.
Writing Conventions	Excellent Most sentences contain correct capitalization and punctuation.	Good A few sentences are missing capital letters and/or correct punctuation.	Fair Many sentences are missing capital letters and/or correct punctuation.	Poor Most of the sentences are missing capital letters and/or correct punctuation.
Effort	Excellent Student gave considerable effort to all aspects of the project and/or worked to the best of their ability.	Good Student displayed some effort with the assignment, but is capable of producing better work.	Fair Student showed minimal effort with the project and worked below their capabilities.	Poor Student did not complete significant portions of the assignment.
