	Excellent 5 pts	Good 4 pts	Fair 3 pts	Poor 2 pts
Introduction	Excellent Introduction consists of 3-4 sentences of which the last sentence is the thesis statement and the sentences flow throughout the paragraph.	Good Introduction consists of 2-3 sentences of which one is the thesis statement and the sentences flow throughout the paragraph.	Fair Introduction consists of 2-3 sentences of which one is the thesis statement and the sentences have a weak connection throughout the paragraph.	Poor Introduction consists of 2 sentences of which one is the thesis statement and the sentences have no connection in the paragraph OR there is no thesis statment in the introduction.
Content	Excellent Rough Draft touches on all of the content and each body paragraph has a topic sentence.	Good Rough draft touches on a majority of the content and most body paragraphs have topic sentences.	Fair Rough draft touches on some of the content and some body paragraphs have topic sentences.	Poor Rough draft does not have any content and no body paragraphs have topic sentences.
Organization	Excellent Entire rough draft is sequential and flows to the reader.	Good Most of the rough draft is easy to follow and is in a logical order.	Fair Paragraphs seem disconnected in several spots or ideas within paragraphs are loosely related.	Poor Writing does not flow or follow a logical progression through the rough draft.
Conclusion	Excellent Conclusion acurately sums up what is said in the paper and includes a restatement of the thesis sentence.	Good Conclusion sums up what is said in the paper with some gaps in thought and includes a restatement of the thesis sentence.	Fair Conclusion sums up what is said in the paper with many gapsin thought OR does not includes a restatement of the thesis sentence.	Poor Conclusion does not sum up what is said in the paper.
