Reader is able to distinguish when a change of setting is present or has occurred. Point of view is clear, use of first person, or third person is easily detected by the reader.

Use of setting is somewhat clear, there is an idea that a safe place is changed for a frightening one. The reader can clearly identify setting. Point of view somewhat clear, and use of first or third person is identifiable.
Fair

Use of setting is unclear, it is difficult for the reader to identify setting in the story. Point of view is unclear at times, shifts in dialogue / person (first or third) hard for reader to detect.
Needs Improvement

No use of setting is present in the short story. It is clearly undetermined. Point of view is not clear. Reader is unable to identify point of view at all in piece. The word I may be used rather than 3rd person.
Organization

Story has at least one well- defined problem/conflict. The mystery creature is shown to pose a threat, there is a climax as the MC moves closer and the MC tries to escape. There is an engaging ending.
