Frayer Model: Vocabulary
	Beginning 0.5 pts	Approaching 1 pts	Meeting 1.5 pts	Exceeding 2 pts
Definition Definition and parts of word (where applicable) - e.g. prefix and suffix meaning	Beginning No definition or definition in wrong box.	Approaching Definition is present, but copied straight from text.	Meeting Definition is present, but only modified from text.	Exceeding Definition is present and is in student's own words. Able to show understanding of meaning from the definition.
Characteristics Facts and/or characteristics or use in sentence	Beginning No characteristics are listed or in the wrong box.	Approaching There is at least one characteristic listed. It does not fully describe the word or give facts about the word.	Meeting There are at least 1-2 characteristics listed and/or they use the word in a grammatically correct sentence.	Exceeding There are at least 3 or more characteristics listed and they use and original sentence, not one copied over from the Internet.
Examples Examples (Synonyms) and pictures	Beginning No example is present or it is in the wrong box.	Approaching An example is present.	Meeting There is more than one example and it reflects the word.	Exceeding There is more than one example and an image that perfectly describes the word.
Non-examples Non-examples (Antonyms) and pictures	Beginning No non-example is present or it is in the wrong box.	Approaching A non-example is present.
