Student may have been given the opportunity to prepare in advance, but was not permitted to use notes during the presentation. Language and content	Excellent Audience understood what was said. Student met all requirements for the presentation. Mostly correct grammar. Good pronunciation with the possible exception of trilled R's.	Proficient Audience understood what was said. Student met almost all requirements for the presentation. Several grammar errors, but still understandable. Decent pronunciation with the possible exception of trilled R's.	Basic Audience understood most, but not all of presentation. Requirements may not have been sufficiently met. Some grammar errors made the speaker difficult to understand. Pronunciation errors in vowels OR pronunciation sounds just like English.	Below Basic Enough of the presentation was so difficult to understand that the audience did not get the gist. Requirements may not have been sufficiently met. Grammar errors were prevalent and made the speaker difficult to understand. Pronunciation errors made speaker difficult to understand.
Delivery	Excellent Speaker maintained eye contact with the audience. Speakers facial expressions connected him or her to the audience. Throughout the presentation, speaker showed emotions (sadness, excitement, etc.) which were congruent with content.	Proficient Speaker had frequent eye contact with audience. Showed some facial expression. Speaker showed emotion throughout much of the presentation.	Basic Speaker made occasional eye contact with audience. Showed little facial expression and spoke in monotone.	Below Basic Speaker seldom looked at audience. Speaker showed no facial expression and spoke in monotone.
Length	Excellent Spoke for 45 - 90 seconds.	Proficient Spoke for 40-44 seconds.	Basic Spoke for 35-39 seconds.	Below Basic Spoke for less than 35 seconds.
