Measurement	Novice Most drawings have inaccuracies.	Intermediate Some drawings contain inaccuracies.	Proficient Segment, curve and angle measurements are drawn on grid paper accurately using an appropriate mathematical tool.	Superior Segment, curve and angle measurements are drawn accurately using an appropriate mathematical tool.a
Scale	Novice No scale is applied.	Intermediate Scale is applied on most aspects of the home and is done on grid paper.	Proficient Scale is applied to all aspects of home and is done on grid paper.	Superior Scale is applied to all aspects of home and is done on plain paper.
Area	Novice Floor area is calculated incorrectly or not attempted.	Intermediate Elements of the floor area calculation are correct but the final calculation is incorrect.	Proficient Floor area is calculated correctly.	Superior Student provides correct calculation and determines the areas of other objects of the home and the relevance of calculating their areas.
Drawings	Novice Less than five drawings completed not to scale.	Intermediate Less than five drawings completed to scale.	Proficient 5 completed views (Front, Both sides, Rear, and one cross-section). All are done to scale.	Superior More than 5 complete views (Ie. Multiple cross-sections or additional views that might be helpful to a builder/planner)
Budget	Novice No budget or an attempt with incorrect calculation.	Intermediate Attempt made but an incomplete budget. Calculations are correct.	Proficient Completed budget for appliances, interior furnishings, and heating system.	Superior Completed budget for appliances, furnishings, heating system, and building costs (wood or other material).
Roofing calculation	Novice No calculation attempted or incorrect area provided.	Intermediate Correct area provided but incorrect calculation of roofing materials.	Proficient Student demonstrates a successful calculation of the area of the roof and provides a cost of roofing materials (shingles, metal, etc.)	Superior Student demonstrates a successful calculation of the area of the roof and provides a cost of roofing materials (shingles, metal, etc.). Provides a rationale for the choice of your building materials.
