Journal Entry Rubric Journal Entry Rubric Journal entries MUST be complete and organized. If you are absent, write the word "absent" across the page for the date you missed. You will need to make-up that entry with a partner on your own time. If your journal is missing/late 2 pts. (see scoring) will be deducted for each missing day. No exceptions. You will still need to complete your journal on a sheet of paper and staple it into journal. If you lose your journal, you are responsible for replacing it. No title is present	Average - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought. -Heading is inconsistently/ incorrectly written. Title is present but is more than five words	Excellent - Content and purpose of the writing are clear. -Potter Thomas heading is present on all pages. -Title is present and five words or fewer
Format/Grammar	Weak - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. - Paragraph is inadequate/excessive in length.	Average - Paragraph contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Paragraph is slightly over/ under sentence length.	Excellent - - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Paragraph is 5-7 complete sentences. No more than 7. No fewer than 5.
Neatness & Completion	Weak - Entry is very messy and unorganized. -No spaces have been skipped. -Difficult to read. - Missing a bulk of the information.	Average - Entry is a little messy and unorganized. - Some spaces have been skipped. -Missing some details from entry.	Excellent - Entry is easy to read and organized. -Space is skipped between each line of print - Everything is completed.
