Far Below Basic

Remembers a few steps/movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others.
Below Basic

Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/watches others and made some errors
Basic

Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with other dancer(s). Few errors.
Proficient

Demonstrates above basic knowledge of choreography making little to no error.
Advanced

Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography and does it well with no error.
Technical Skills

Far Below Basic

Little attention is paid to how movements are done and finer details. Movements are sloppy.
Below Basic

Only some understanding of technical elements. Some movements were clean and sharp while others lacked proper technique.
Basic

Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet.
Proficient

Dance performed with good execution, but still needs some work on technique.
Advanced

Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, sharpness of movement. Demonstrates excellent understanding of dance style.
Rhythm/Tempo

Far Below Basic

Attempts to keep rhythm but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat of music.
Below Basic

Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat but falls behind and/or speeds up most of the time.
Basic

Generally accurate in beat and tempo of dance sequence most of the time.
Proficient

Shows a good understanding of tempo and beat. Almost always on beat throughout the dance.
Advanced

Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on count and rhythm throughtout dance.
Stage Presence

Far Below Basic

The dancer is not focused, concentrated or committed to performance. The dancer looks at the floor the whole time.
Below Basic

The dancer is somewhat focused and tries to make a connection with the audience.
Dancer looks at the floor often.
Basic

The dancer is generally focused and committed to the movement. And generally makes a connection through the movement. Dancer occasionally looks at floor.
Proficient

The dancer is invested throughout most of the dance and connects with the audience most of the time. Dancer looks at the floor very little.
Advanced

The dancer is completely invested in the movement and is able to make a connection with audience. Dancer performs all out. Dancer does not look at floor.
Professionalism

Far Below Basic

The dancer meets none of the requirements below:
Dancer followed dress requirements.
Dancer was prompt.
Dancer displayed proper dance etiquette.
Dancer helped their fellow classmates.
Below Basic

The dancer meets one of the requirements below:
Dancer followed dress requirements.
Dancer was prompt.
Dancer displayed proper dance etiquette.
Dancer helped their fellow classmates.
Basic

The dancer meets two of the requirements below:
Dancer followed dress requirements.
Dancer was prompt.
Dancer displayed proper dance etiquette.

Proficient

The dancer meets three of the requirements below:
Dancer followed dress requirements.
Dancer was prompt.

Advanced

The dancer meets all of the requirements below:
Dancer followed dress requirements.
Dancer was prompt.
Dancer displayed proper dance etiquette.

Spacial Awareness

Far Below Basic

Complete lack of understanding of spacial awareness. Unable to maintain spacing as dance progresses, almost always in the wrong spot.
Below Basic

Generally shows an understanding of spacial awareness and relationship to other dancers but lacks the ability to monitor and maintain spacing as dance progresses. Rarely in the right spot.
Basic

Understands spacial awareness, relationship to other dancers, but lacks the ability to consistently maintain proper spacing. Mostly in the right spot.
Proficient

Shows an understanding of spacial awareness, relationship to other dancers, almost always in the right spot.
Advanced

Demonstrates a clear understanding of spacial awareness, relationship to other dancers, size of stage, how to maintain spacing as dance progresses. Always in the right spot.
