Composition

Excellent

The placement of the objects in the still life is pleasing: positioned at an angle, showing overlapping, depth, respecting proportion of objects. Most of the space on the paper is used, making the negative space pleasing.
Good

The placement of the objects in the still life is pleasing, but is missing either overlapping, depth, proportion or angled objects. The space on the paper is not filled, a lot of negative space.
Fair

The placement of the still life is awkward. Either there is too much negative space around the still life or objects are placed side by side. Proportion of the objects are not right.
Poor

The still life has too much negative space around it (in
other words it is too small for the piece of paper). Objects are not overlapping. No sense of depth in the artwork. The proportions are not respected.
Value

Excellent

Full range of value is used, from very dark to very light. Placement of the shading on object is realistic and well executed, following the object's form.
Good

Large range of value demonstrated throughout. Most of the objects have shading, but not always realistic.
Fair

Small range of value demonstrated. Objects lack shading, shadows and realistic form rendering.
Poor

Little to no range of value demonstrated. Objects look flat, no form and not much shadows.
Craftmanship

Excellent

The entire work is neat. The contour lines are clear. The shading is done in a smooth pattern and kept inside the form of the objects.
Good

The work is somewhat neat. Contour lines are define, but too light, the shading is not a smooth pattern in the form.
Fair

The work is not neat. The contour lines are jagged and the shading is scribbled, not in the line.
Poor

The work is messy, torn, smudge or bend paper. The student did not apply himself. Lines are not controlled and shading is absent or done in one value only.
Effort

Excellent

Student made good use of his/her time during art. Student applied him/her self and focus on the artwork.
Good

Student was talkative during art time, not applying him/her self 100%, but finished their artwork in a timely manner.
Fair

Student was distracted during art time. Applied themselves, but produced an incomplete artwork.
Poor

Student rushed through the art project, was not focused and didn't apply him/her self. Project is incomplete.
