Title/Illustrations Students will create a title and illustrate their fairy tale.	Exceeding Standards descriptive, appropriate, and interesting!	Meeting Standards provides a clue about the main character or setting of the story	Approaching Standards somewhat related to the story	Below Standards is unrelated to the story
Setting The fairy tale has a clear setting.	Exceeding Standards unusual, creative setting which creates dramatic tension in story	Meeting Standards setting adds interest to the story	Approaching Standards clear setting in a specific time/place	Below Standards setting is unclear or unremarkable
Sequencing It follows a good sequence	Exceeding Standards has transition words between events and flows from beginning to end	Meeting Standards flows in a logical order	Approaching Standards events are in order, but there are gaps	Below Standards unclear because the events are not in order
Development	Exceeding Standards has precise language which describes details unique to the setting and appropriate to the resolution	Meeting Standards has many interesting details	Approaching Standards has adequate details but is in a "telling" voice	Below Standards very brief, without details

Elapsed Time The elapsed time between their clocks is correct and lends to the story.	Exceeding Standards The elapsed time is correct with all transitions. All elapsed times are included in the story.	Meeting Standards One or two elapsed times are incorrect. The elapsed time is missing in one part of the story.	Approaching Standards There are three elapsed times done incorrectly. Two elapsed times are missing from the story.	Below Standards More than three elapsed times are incorrect. more than three are missing from the story and the elapsed time does not play a role in the story.
