Short Screenplay 
Students will create an original screenplay in groups of three or four. The script must be be 5 to 10 pages (approximately 5 to 10 minutes), and typed in standard screenplay format. With this they will produce a half page pitch/ synopsis. Students are allowed to choose their topic, genre, etc. In order for each student in the group to gain an equal mark, each group will need to verbally describe their role in the screenwriting process.

Organization

Excellent

The script is original, and written in an organized fashion.
The story line is presented clearly. The script follows the 3 act plot structure discussed in class (i.e. inciting incident, rising action, climax, etc.).
Good

The script original and is mostly organized. Thought was put into the organization of the plot, though one part is not clear or thought out as well.
Average

The script is mostly original and only partly organized. The plot follows some of the 3 act structure rules, but is lacking on others.
Below average

The script is only partly organised and original , The audience has trouble following parts of the plot, as the structure is vague.
Poor

The script is completely disorganised or unoriginal, with very little/ no evidence of plot structure.
Length

Excellent

The script is 5 to 10 pages in length, and reads at approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

Synopsis/ Pitch does not describe the story very well in short-form. 100 more or less words were used.
Poor

Synopsis/ Pitch does little to describe the story in short-form. Word count is over by more than 100 either way.
