Knowledge of choreography 20 pts	Poor Remembers a few of the steps/ mvmts. and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others. Quits dancing upon messing up.	Developing Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of mvmts. Hesitates/ watches others and makes some errors.	Good Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. 1-3 errors max.	Excellent Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography. No errors.
Technical skills 20 pts	Poor Although remembers some of dance, little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance.	Developing Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated.	Good Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet.	Excellent Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Demonstrates excellent understanding of dance style.
Performance Skills 20 pts	Poor Dancer is not very focused, or committed to performance. Low Energy No character created. Can be heard talking during dance. Dancer looks down frequently.	Developing Dancer is generally focused, minimal attempt made to communicate with others on stage or audience. Low energy. Character is unclear. Dancer looks down frequently.	Good The dancer has created a character with great energy. Dancer communicates with other dancers and audience through eye contact, facial & body expression.	Excellent The dancer creates a believable character on stage and is able to engage the audience completely throughout their high energy performance.
Rhythm/Tempo 20 pts	Poor Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.	Developing Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up in places or makes errors in rhythm.	Good Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences at least 95% the time.	Excellent Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythmn throughout the dance.
Transitions 20 pts	Poor Unaware of staging. Unsure of entrances, exits, and bows. Can be heard backstage.	Developing Some effort and awareness of staging, entrances, exits and bows.	Good Executes correct staging, entrances, exits and bows with care.	Excellent Executes correct staging, entrances, exits and bows with professionalism, character and confidence.
