	Clear Evidence 5 pts	Partial Evidence 4 pts	No Evidence 2 pts
Poem Theme Praises a Subject	Clear Evidence Student expresses praise for one subject and the subject is clearly defined. There is a clear theme that keeps the poem on track	Partial Evidence One subject is stated but not well developed. Theme is addressed but poem loses focus and is not constant in the poem	No Evidence Subject is not expressed clearly. Theme is not present
Reason for Praise	Clear Evidence The reason and impact of the subject on the writer is clearly understood and expressed	Partial Evidence The reason or impact of the subject on the writer is mentioned, but not clearly expressed and developed	No Evidence There is little or no reason nor impact.
Eloquent Language	Clear Evidence Language is dignified and eloquent. There is no repetition of words, but synonyms are visible.	Partial Evidence Language is mostly dignified and eloguent. One or two examples of contemporary "slang" is present. There is repetition of eloquent words	No Evidence There is little or no evidence of eloquent or dignified language
Figurative Language	Clear Evidence There are three or more examples of Figurative Language including Metaphors, Similes, Allusion, Alliteration, Personification, Hyperbole, Imagery, etc.	Partial Evidence Only 1-2 elements of Figurative Language are evident	No Evidence There is no evidence of Figurative Language
