1: Unsatisfactory
Tone often NOT FOCUSED, CLEAR OR CENTERED. Tone DOES NOT BLEND WELL with others.
2: Developing
Tone is focused but OFTEN UNCONTROLLED in normal singing. Tone PROBABLY WILL NOT BLEND WELL with others. FREQUENTLY THE TONE QUALITY DETRACTS from performance.
3: Proficient
Tone is MORE OFTEN FOCUSED, CLEAR, and CENTERED. Tone will PROBABLY BLEND WELL with others. Occasionally the TONE QUALITY WILL DETRACT from overall performance.
4: Distinguished
Tone is FOCUSED, CLEAR and CENTERED. Tone BLENDS WELL with others.
5: Exceptional
Tone is CONSISTENLY focused, clear and centered. Tone WILL BLEND WELL with others.
Pitch
1: Unsatisfactory
VERY FEW ACCURATE or secure pitches.
2: Developing
Some accurate pitches, but there are FREQUENT AND/OR REPEATED ERRORS OR SCOOPING.
3: Proficient
More accurate pitches, but still a FEW ERRORS OR SCOOPING.
4: Distinguished
AN OCCASIONAL ISOLATED ERROR but most of the time pitch is ACCURATE AND SECURE.
5: Exceptional
Sings on pitch consistently. Pitch is ACCURATE AND SECURE.
Diction
1: Unsatisfactory
Very AWKWARD diction. Words came across as MUMBLED OR SLURRED.
2: Developing
Words were GENERALLY UNDERSTANDABLE but sung in an AWKWARD manner. VOWEL SHAPE WAS NOT APPROPRIATE.
3: Proficient
Fairly good diction. OCCASIONALLY words were pronounced with AWKWARD CONSONANTS OR VOWEL SHAPES. DICTION FREQUENTLY DETRACTED from performance.
4: Distinguished
Generally good diction. MOST WORDS WERE PRONOUNCED CLEARLY. DICTION DOES NOT DISTRACT from performance.
5: Exceptional
Very beautiful diction. ALL WORDS PRONOUNCED CLEARLY, and vowels were always SHAPED APPROPRIATELY.
