Race Car
Students will build a car from any materials with a total mass restriction of 350g (approx. 12ounces) . Your car should be able to compete in a race against cars made by other students. No store bought models, kits may be used. The student should construct the majority of the car using raw materials. The car will travel down a ramp and measured for kinematic and dynamic variables. Keep in mind: weight, gravity, friction, speed, velocity, and momentum.

Good

Used the materials required. The construction does have scientific thought.

Met the mass limit 350g or less)
Excellent

Used the materials required. The construction does have scientific thought expressed clearly through the parts on the car.

Met the mass limit 350g or less)
Neatness
10 %

Poor

Does not have the shape of a car. Construction is poor.

Materials or glue, tape is messy and excessive.
Good

Does have a car appearance. Frame materials are visible.

Good

Some paint and other materials used to cover the basic materials of the car.
Excellent

The car is personal and finished, with no basic materials visible.

Is presented in a sharp and/or a "theme" manner.
Scientific Testing
30 %

Poor

No tests were collected or recorded.
Good

During testing most variables were collected, then recorded in a Table.

Proper formulas and calculations are shown to determine:
Velocity, Acceleration, Net Force, Momentum.
Excellent

Student tested for speed, velocity, acceleration, distance, and weight.
Design
20 %

Poor
