CARES Eligibility Rubric The purpose of this rubric is help staff and administration determine whether a student is a good candidate for the CARES after school program.
	LOW 1 pts	MEDIUM 2 pts	HIGH 3 pts	VERY HIGH 4 pts
Academic Concerns Shows the likelihood that a student will fail one or more classes.	LOW Student is likely to PASS ALL CLASSES.	MEDIUM Student is likely to fail ONE subject.	HIGH Student is likely to fail TWO subjects.	VERY HIGH Student is likely to fail THREE or more subjects.
SEL Concerns Importance of addressing social/emotional learning deficits through the CARES program based on the results of Minute Meeting data (red flag = area of serious concern such as the student feeling there is no adult that they can talk to)	LOW There are NO red flags based on the Minute Meeting results.	MEDIUM There is ONE red flag based on the Minute Meeting results.	HIGH There are TWO red flags based on the Minute Meeting results.	VERY HIGH There are MORE THAN TWO red flags based on the Minute Meeting results.
Teacher Recommendation Teacher recommendation based on discussions at team meetings.	LOW Teachers DO NOT recommend CARES at this time.	MEDIUM Teachers recommend CARES WITH RESERVATIONS. (Please note reservations in comment section.)	HIGH Teachers RECOMMEND CARES for this student.	VERY HIGH Teachers STRONGLY RECOMMEND CARES for this student.
Attendance Concerns Likelihood that student will attend CARES regularly based on school day attendance for the previous year.	LOW School day attendance for the previous year is below 85%.	MEDIUM School day attendance for the previous year is between 85-90%.	HIGH School day attendance for the previous year is between 90-95%.	VERY HIGH School day attendance for the previous year is above 95%.
Counselor Recommendation Teacher/social worker recommendation.	LOW Counselor/social worker DOES NOT recommend CARES at this time.	MEDIUM Counselor/social worker recommends CARES WITH RESERVATIONS. (Please note reservations in comment section.)	HIGH Counselor/social worker RECOMMENDS CARES.	VERY HIGH Counselor/social worker STRONGLY RECOMMENDS CARES.
