APA formatting	Basic APA style formatting included, but contained errors i(E.g.spacing, punctuation or capitalization).	Proficient Few APA formatting errors, e.g. authors of study, spacing, capitol letters.	Distinguished APA formatting was accurately followed, and included correct placement of authors' names, title of study, spacing guidelines, etc. 1
Critical Summary	Basic Inadequate description of study, how study was undertaken, results of study & recommendations or applications to present research or your interest area.	Proficient Aspects of summary included but some of the important information was missing. Some annotations merely summarize the source. Brief summary and assessment of the reference (type of research, participants, major findings, quality and rigor of the reference, etc.)	Distinguished All important information was described well, why study was conducted, where, methods, results, and application. Brief reflection of how the reference relates to other references included in the bibliography (How does this reference challenge, corroborate, complicate, etc. other references cited in the bibliography?)
Critical Assessment	Basic Writing not clear, run-on sentences used, topic sentence not clearly stated. The assessment only included minor reference to bias, accuracy, and/or comparison.	Proficient Writing needs work but shows good foundation from which to work. After summarizing the sources, an evaluation was completed, but lacked detail and analysis.	Distinguished Writing clear, clear presentation of ideas, highly developed comparison and evaluation of all sources.
Critical Reflection	Basic A reflection was included in some, but not all of the annotations. Did not include a connect to practice or accurately depict the source's usefulness for educators.	Proficient A reflection was included in all annotations. Some of the reflections lacked depth of personal connection.	Distinguished A critical reflection was included in each. The reflections included connections the author made to current practice.
